kitchen art

Of all the spaces in my apartment, the kitchen is the most drab. I love that it has an open layout with a bar opening it up to the dining room and the living room. However, the light counter tops, creamy walls, white cabinets and white appliances just aren't doing it for me. There isn't even any hardware on the cabinets -- an easy way to change the look of a kitchen. My goal from the get-go was to hang some art on the walls. Maybe some fun calligraphy menus or vintage food posters -- nothing food cutesy.

But then I saw this from The Word Shop:

I love that it's a cute take on the old butcher prints and diagrams. (Although it does make the sad that the cutest print they have is of a pig, my favorite farm animal.) Then, I almost died when I saw that The Word Shop makes butcher prints of dinosaurs, too. Hilarious.

I think the little piggy might be cute hanging above my oven. I'd love to frame him with some colorful mat. I'm crazy about the way this vintage Vogue cover looks with shades of pink.

Ideally, there would be some pops of color in the print to pull out and highlight, but I still love the concept for black and whites.

  1. I love the vogue one because the pink instantly picks up your mood when you look at it. I also want to check out The Word Shop now because the pig is adorable!

  3. Hi Lynn!

Isn't the pink in that Vogue print fun? It's so wonderful that you've started your own blog! I'm falling way behind on TV shows, but I am looking forward to a Pumpkin Spice Latte, too :)

  4. Yeah, I love the colors and it makes me miss vintage swimsuits because they were so much more classy and figure flattering. I can't wait for pumpkin spice lattes to come back next month. Have you ever tried pumpkin spice chais? You just ask the barista for a chai latte with 3 pumps of the pumpkin. It is to die for!
